826 Boston is committed to helping underserved students with one of the daunting aspects of the college application process—the college essay. Summer is a great time to get a head start on the college application process, which is why 826 Boston will host three Summer College Essay Academies in 2017: one in our center in Egleston Square and two on-site at Boston Public Schools.

In these intensive five-day writing programs, students will dive into the written aspects of the Common Application and work in small groups to brainstorm, draft, and revise their personal statements. This important writing sample is more than an essay: it is the place where students get to tell their story and stand apart from other applicants. At the end of the program, each student should leave with an advanced draft.

Only enrolled students are eligible to attend the on-site programs.  Volunteers are needed for both events. Find out more about the program at BINcA and the Margarita Muñiz Academy here.
