Bio: Alia Hamada Forrest
Alia Hamada Forrest, a former 826 Boston volunteer workshop teacher, is a Massachusetts Promise Fellow serving as the In-School Project Coordinator this year. She was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, where she ate tangerines, grapefruits, tangelos, and any other citrus fruit she could get her hands on. She earned a BFA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing at Emerson College and went on to work in several different departments at Barefoot Books, a children's book publishing company in Cambridge. She is now pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing at Lesley University. When she's not getting people excited about volunteering at 826 Boston, Alia is most likely reading or writing poetry...or making up crazy recipes using vegetables from her garden or the farmer's market.
